Older Women’s Hands at Center of Designer’s Powerful Ad Campaign

Designer Karen Walker says hands reflect ‘a life well-lived.’

Older women — and their hands — are the stars of New Zealand jewelry designer Karen Walker’s latest campaign, the Observer reports. Phyllis Sues, 93, and Roberta Haze, 78, both former dancers modeled Walker’s rings in photographs (shown) taken by Ari Seth Cohen. “Hands can be every bit as expressive as faces, can speak of a life well-lived,” Walker told the website. Pieces in the new collection include the brand’s signature arrow ring and a mood ring that, instead of changing color, reads “love” or “hate.”
