Jewelry Experts to Speak at 39th Annual Antique Jewelry & Art Conference ‘Jewelry Camp’

It runs Aug. 4-6.

(Press Release) Long Island, NY – The 39th Annual Antique Jewelry & Art Conference (“Jewelry Camp”), the leading resource for antique and estate jewelry education, brings together jewelry professionals and collectors for in-depth learning and networking opportunities on Aug. 4-6 at Hofstra University in Long Island, NY. The conference includes lectures and hands-on sessions by industry leaders to facilitate attendees’ success in today’s antique, estate and vintage jewelry markets.

“Jewelry Camp provides an intimate setting to hear from notable jewelry and art experts, while connecting with peers to share real-world experiences,” commented appraisal expert and Jewelry Camp Director Edward Lewand. “Dealers, appraisers, retailers and other industry professionals, along with passionate collectors, can expand their jewelry knowledge and identify new business opportunities.”

Jewelry Camp kicks off on Friday, Aug. 4, with a special lecture, “Out of the Ivy and Into the Arctic: Teaching Jewelry History and Craft Technology at Columbia University and Nunavut Arctic College,” presented by Donna Bilak, Ph.D., a postdoctoral scholar for the Making and Knowing Project at Columbia University. Saturday, Aug. 5, and Sunday, Aug. 6, include two full days of presentations led by industry dealers, museum curators, art history professors and more, including:

  • Susan Abeles – Vice President, Director Jewelry U.S., Bonham’s.
  • Michael Coan – Assistant Professor, Jewelry Design Fashion Institute of Technology.
  • Ulysses Grant Dietz – Senior Curator, Newark Museum.
  • Dr. Géza von Habsburg – Curatorial Director, Fabergé.
  • Benjamin Macklowe – Macklowe Gallery Ltd., New York.

The popular Dealer’s Night, with dealers from around the country displaying their unusual and hard-to-find pieces for sale, caps off Saturday evening.
