Judge the Jewels: Cynthia Erivo’s Emerald-Accented Oscars Jewels Are Wickedly Glamorous

The sighting: Actress Cynthia Erivo, who recently won a Gem Award for Jewelry Style, walked the 2024 Oscars red carpet in a wonderfully dramatic outfit inspired by her upcoming role in Wicked as the iconic green Wicked Witch, Elphaba.

The jewels: Cynthia Erivo loves to layer earrings in her off-duty ensembles, and her Oscars look takes that to the extreme: she has what looks like gold and diamond hoops lining the full expanse of each ear, slightly graduated in size to become larger towards the lobe.

At the end of each of the actress’s ears is a large Roberto Coin pearl earring with layers of tsavorite and diamonds ($45,000). I absolutely love these earrings: they’re unapologetically large and glamorous.

The green theme continues on Erivo’s wrist with a platinum Roberto Coin bracelet featuring emeralds and diamonds ($215,000), and then the glamour continues with a Roberto Coin 18K gold pavé diamond Princess star ring ($13,750) and 18K gold diamond Princess Flower ring ($15,400).

The trends: Green gems are very hot this year, as are rebellious pearls. The choice to forego a necklace and instead wear statement earrings and rings is also very on-trend, although that particular trend isn’t one of my personal favorites.

What do we think? This is just as cool as it gets. The effect of those two lines of hoops marching down Erivo’s ears, each ending in a bulbous pearl and tsavorite drop, punctuated below by the sparkling rings on her dramatically manicured hands is just spectacular.

I was briefly disappointed that this dress had such a wide neckline with no necklace, but the green leather texture and voluminous ruffles means that there’s already so much happening in the center of the actress’s body that I understand why she wanted the grounding space of a bare clavicle.

Another thing I noticed is that the ridge shape of the row of hoops down Eviro’s ears perfectly echoes the dramatic ruffled train that goes down the back of her dress! Such a cool detail.

Judgement: 1,400/10 for wonderful wicked-inspired work.
