Longtime Jeweler Dies at 87

Frank Hardy Bromberg Jr., who was part of the fifth generation of management at Bromberg’s in Alabama, has died.

He was 87.

AL.com reports that during his career, he served as chairman of the board and president of the company. The news outlet describes the company, founded in 1836, as “Alabama’s oldest jeweler and family-owned retailer.”

On its Facebook page, the company described Bromberg as “a beloved father, grandfather, friend, respected businessman, civic leader.”

“He was a true asset to the company and community and will be greatly missed,” the post stated.

AL.com noted that from 1983 to 2000 he was a member of the University of Alabama Board of Trustees.

Before his career in retail, he was a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
