Margaret Qualley’s Diamond Ring Begged the Question: Is She Engaged?

MARGARET QUALLEY’S ENGAGEMENT ring was a blip when it first was photographed at the Cannes Film Festival. When the actress, who is the daughter of Andie MacDowell and Paul Qualley, was seen at Cannes on the red carpet, the amount of bling at the festival had already put this editor into sparkle sensory overload. I didn’t even notice the ring that was on her third finger, left hand.

But there it was: a pretty round diamond solitaire set in what seems like a split shank classic platinum or white gold setting with a diamond on each side of the central stone. Yet no announcement was made to inform of an engagement to 38-year-old Jack Antonoff, songwriter, record producer and lead singer of Bleachers, during Qualley’s days at Cannes for the premiere of her latest film, Stars at Noon. On two occasions she was photographed wearing Chanel, and in the shots with the diamond ring, she wore Chanel high jewelry diamond earrings. Qualley has been a brand ambassador for the house for years, but the ring doesn’t look like the iconic brand’s design.

Then in a charming Instagram post, we got a closer look at the ring in a photo with Qualley’s arms wrapped around Antonoff. The post read, “Oh I love him,” telling us what we wanted to know. But a day prior to the IG photos, a source had already told People the two were engaged. Yet it was much more fun seeing it unfold ourselves, from the photos at Cannes to the snaps on IG.

The ring seems quite classic, and until we get more intel or even closer shots, we would only be guessing as to the size of the ring and whether it was a brilliant or a vintage or antique round diamond. The side of the shank close to the diamonds and the prong settings has me wondering whether it might be a vintage ring or a vintage-inspired design. Once we find out, we will update this post. Until then, why not write in and tell us what you think?
