New Book ‘Fancy Colored Diamonds, The Pricing Architecture’ to Debut at JCK Las Vegas

(Press Release)
NEW YORK – Author and fancy color diamond expert Eden Rachminov has launched “Fancy Colored Diamonds, The Pricing Architecture,” a book created especially for the benefit of retailers in the fancy color segment. This second tome, a more in-depth examination of fancy color diamonds and their inherent commercial assets and marketability, will be introduced to the trade during JCK Las Vegas, beginning June 3rd at Booth B57041.

With a title suggesting a discussion of pricing, “Fancy Colored Diamonds, The Pricing Architecture,” is in fact, not about prices. Rather, the book is a compendium that provides a framework by which stones can be evaluated for conceptual pricing. While the book does not discuss actual prices, it instead presents an in-depth methodology that can be applied by the entire supply chain – it is designed to be a working tool and an easy-to-read coffee table book.

The book presents a unique methodology for analyzing natural fancy color diamonds. Employing “The Layer System,” Rachminov presents each commercial attribute of a fancy color diamond in elaborate detail – dedicating a full chapter to each “layer.” The book is accompanied by an appendix that includes more than 10,000 coefficients and premium tables to provide retailers with intelligent responses and explanations regarding vast price differences between two fancy color diamonds with similar GIA reports.

Rachminov believes that these attributes, some of which are absent and some that are over-emphasized from current GIA reports, are of particular importance. Most retailers and their customers are utilizing the “4 Cs” to describe a fancy color diamond and are not aware of the professional jargon that extends far beyond those fundamental concepts. This book discusses the paramount characteristics one should look for in a fancy color diamond, as well as other important aspects that should be ignored.

“My goal in penning the second book is to arm the entire industry, from miners and wholesalers to retailers and end consumers, with knowledge of the remarkable, yet widely unknown, attributes of fancy colored diamonds,” says Rachminov. “My belief is that this will benefit the industry by bringing together, improving relationships and growing this sector of the market in a positive way. Put even more simply, I want to better guide the next generation of sellers in this highly unique and niche market.”

The founder of the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF), Rachminov’s goals in writing the book are in-line with that organization: to provide educational tools for the color diamond industry and advocate for transparency and fair trade practices.

Rachminov will be on-site at JCK Las Vegas for personal introductions, discussions and interviews regarding “Fancy Color Diamonds, The Pricing Architecture.” For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact Netta E’dan-Harel at netta@fancycolor.com. The book will be available for purchase at fancycolorbooks.com beginning at the end of May.
