The first Monday of May brought out the A-listers as they celebrated fashion’s biggest night: the Met Gala. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2024 event was called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening” and featured over 200 historical and iconic styles by legendary international designers. The gala’s dress code was “The Garden of Time,” which brought out a range of spectacular gowns with a nod to the natural world’s past and jewelry that was dreamy and fantastical and which hinted at Mother Nature in diamonds, green gemstones and winged creatures. The following slides reveal the jewels of the evening.

Jennifer Lopez won my heart for best total look of the evening in her butterfly-winged custom Schiaparelli gown with a necklace, bracelet and rings from the Blue Book 2024: Tiffany & Co. Celéste Collection. She also wore a Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock ring in platinum and 18K yellow gold with a fancy intense yellow, a white diamond, pink sapphires and accent diamonds.

Anna Wintour’s outfit embodied the evening’s theme in her custom version of a Loewe fall-winter 2024 look — a white gown worn with a floral black coat. She finished the look with antique and vintage pieces from S.J. Phillips, and the en tremblant brooch in particular was eye-catching and perfect for the event.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore what she described as a dress that looked like a trellis by Richard Quinn, a hat that had a vintage brooch, and either floral diamond brooches or ornaments in her hair. She also wore Briony Raymond Estate Art Deco baguette diamond Ray Earrings and Marlo Laz’s Diamond Alexandra ring along with other antique rings from Gray & Davis.

Demi Moore looked absolutely radiant in a Harris Reed floral dress and jewelry from Cartier’s newest High Jewelry Nature Sauvage collection. She wears the Chloris set in platinum, diamonds and emeralds inspired by the natural world and dandelion flower. The set included a statement necklace, earrings and two rings.

Cynthia Erivo captured the feeling of the evening with her Thom Browne two-piece flower accented outfit and earrings and rings from Roberto Coin and Wempe. But the piece that was showstopping was the dragonfly she wore on the back of her head.

Gigi Hadid looked regal, taking notes from Old Hollywood, in a gown by Thom Browne and Chopard jewelry. The necklace was a mix of 18k white gold and 18k yellow gold with yellow and white diamonds, 18K pear-shaped drop earrings in the mixed metals and a ring in 18k white gold featuring a rectangular-cut yellow diamond ring.

Emma Chamberlain went a little goth girl in a Jean Paul Gaultier gown and Cartier Sauvage 18K gold and white diamond necklace and earrings. She also wore two Étincelle de Cartier wedding bands in platinum and diamonds.

Uma Thurman shone in a cornflower blue Tory Burch gown with wispy floral details on the shoulders complemented by Fred Leighton’s 1950s diamond and platinum bracelet by Van Cleef and Arpels, Art Deco platinum cushion cut aquamarine and diamond ring and Art Deco aquamarine and diamond pendant earrings.

Penelope Cruz was another actress who hinted at old Hollywood glamour. She wore a Chanel gown made from three different gowns and Chanel High Jewelry diamond necklace and earrings.

Riley Keough wore two floral ear cuffs and a necklace from Chanel High Jewelry that went beautifully with her Chanel gown.

Dua Lipa added sparkle to her black fashion with a Tiffany & Co.  platinum and 18K yellow gold diamonds necklace and earrings and styled  Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard necklaces around her waist, imbuing the look with a youthful touch.

Shakira looked dazzling in red gown and a Cartier Collection brooch of platinum, 18K white gold with diamonds and center ruby, circa 1965. She also wore pieces from the Reflection de Cartier collection and the Cartier collection, including an 18K gold necklace and two diamond rings, one with rubies.

Michelle Yeoh wore Cindy Chao‘s interpretation of the theme in Chao’s White Label Collection Waterfall earrings crafted from emeralds, diamonds and tsavorites and floral ring of emeralds, diamonds, tsavorites and sapphires.
