Thieves in Night-Vision Goggles Steal Jewelry Worth $100,000

It was like “Mission: Impossible.”

Thieves wearing night-vision goggles stole $100,000 worth of jewelry from a jewelry store on Staten Island.

The burglars first entered a vacant business next door in order to get into Fortune Jewelers at about 3:50 a.m., the New York Daily News reports.

The criminals were seen on surveillance video “wearing head-to-toe dark clothes, heavy-duty gloves, masks and night goggles,” according to the newspaper.

The owner of the store, who declined to be named publicly, told the Staten Island Advance there were two burglars.

“It was like a job you see in the movies,” he was quoted as saying.

Authorities said the items stolen included gold rosary beads, charm bracelets and cross pendants.

Police were still searching for the culprits.

The family has run the jewelry store for three decades, according to the Daily News.
