They backed through the front window.

Thieves stole merchandise from a Maryland jewelry store after first slamming a car into the store, police say.

Authorities say the suspects backed the car through the front window of The Jewelry Exchange in Bethesda on purpose, WTTG-TV reports. The automobile was a stolen Mercedes Benz E350, according to police. Watch a news video about the incident below.

The crime happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. and fortunately, no one was in the store at the time.

The thieves broke a display case, WRC-TV reports. They reportedly made off with 15 to 20 watches worth $400 to $500 each.

Police are looking for two, or possibly three, suspects, according to WTTG. Authorities say the thieves, who ran away on foot, were inside the store for less than half a minute.
