Tiffany Opens ‘Secret’ Workshop Focused on Innovation

The CEO is seeking ‘newness.’

Bloomberg reports that Tiffany & Co. has opened a “secret” New York workshop focused on innovation.

Jewelers there are developing prototypes of products the company hopes will fuel a burgeoning rebound. Bloomberg notes that Tiffany’s revenue grew more last quarter than it had in any other quarter over the past six years.

Alessandro Bogliolo, CEO of Tiffany, was quoted saying: “We should have newness throughout the year and in the different parts of our assortment.”

The Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop profiled by Bloomberg is a 17,000-square-foot facility located in Manhattan. It opened its doors in April and is currently hiring for a variety of positions, including engineers and designers.

So far, 50 people work at the workshop, with 30 more to be hired. The facility is a place where “representatives from merchandising, design and the prototyping center meet to discuss new projects,” Bloomberg explains.
