Pearls have dusted off their preppy and/or prim and proper image for a more creative approach to rare and exceptional-quality pearls. Today’s South Sea, Tahitian, baroque and Akoya pearls come out of their conventional shell with a fanciful, feminine, edgy or rough-hewn appeal. Designers create pieces with a modern presence and a more personalized approach that is far from the traditional looks of the past.
