Richard “Dick” Greenwood, president of New York-based jewelry and gem wholesaler A.F. Greenwood, has died at age 70.
He “embodied the word ‘service'” and had served on the American Gem Trade Association board of directors for several terms, including two terms as president of AGTA.
“He continued to serve in an advisory capacity throughout his life, and was known as a wise counsel with a strong sense of fairness and a quick wit,” AGTA President Douglas Hucker said in a press release. “His loss is profound to our community.”
He’d been a member of AGTA since 1982. Greenwood was involved in several other industry organizations as well.

Greenwood is survived by his wife of 47 years, Trudi, and their children, Dan and Amy, Hucker said.
A memorial service was set for noon on Thursday, April 19, at the Riverside Memorial Chapel in Mount Vernon, NY.
