(PRESS RELEASE) BANGKOK – The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT and China’s National Gemstone Testing Center (NGTC) recently signed the Letter of Intent (LOI) to promote the collaboration on setting colored gemstones standard and other research projects on gems and jewelry industry between the two countries.

“The key objectives of this LOI are to set the colored gemstones standard used for gem and jewelry examination and certification. We will work together to promote the standard to be recognized as the Asian standard and global standard in the future. These include the standards for ruby, sapphire, emerald and jade and guideline for ruby and sapphire origin examination,” said Ms Duangkamol Jiambutr, the director of GIT. “GIT and NGTC will also jointly work on academic articles to be published in international academic journals and present the papers in academic conferences as well as provide training course for Thai and Chinese entrepreneurs to promote Thailand as the world’s gem and jewelry trading hub.”

Furthermore, the two institutes will study the qualification of Chinese synthetic diamond to establish the database for accurate synthetic diamond examination to boost the confidence of manufacturers and buyers.

“We have set up a co-working team with executives and laboratory specialists, to execute our plan to meet our key objectives. This will benefit both gem and jewelry entrepreneurs and buyers,” Ms Jiambutr added.

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
