(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The World Diamond Council (WDC) mourns the untimely loss of Sanjay Shah, a serving member of its Board of Directors, who passed away in New York on April 29, 2022.

Joining the WDC Board in November 2021, as the representative of India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Mr. Shah was a long-time member of GJEPC’s Kimberley Process core team and the convenor of the organization’s Diamond Panel Committee. In private life he was a partner of the KBS Group, one of the world’s largest diamond manufacturers and traders.

“Sanjay epitomized the sense of community and commitment that we are so proud of in our industry,” said Edward Asscher, WDC president, “giving of his time selflessly to international bodies like the World Diamond Council, and closer to home in India. Our thoughts go out to his wife Sangita, his children and their families, his colleagues and his company. He will be sorely missed, but his memory will serve as a beacon for all of us.”

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
