Part of This Closed Jewelry Store Lives on in a Very Cool Way

Bagley and Co. Jewelers in Duluth, MN, closed about a year ago, but parts of the business live on in a way that the former owner finds extremely satisfying, KQDS-TV reports.

One aspect of closing the business, which had operated for 131 years, bothered owner Rick Bagley: watching the store’s handmade cases get hauled away. They dated back to 1904.

But there’s a happy ending, at least in one respect. The cases have landed at another jewelry store: Bergey Jewelry in Wisconsin.

Bagley, who was a fourth-generation owner, received pictures from Bergey showing the cases in their new home, and he and couldn’t be more pleased, KQDS reports. Bergey describes itself as “a family-owned and operated, small-town jewelry store” with locations in the Wisconsin towns of Oregon and Mount Horeb.

The legacy of the Bagley jewelry business will also live on in other ways. Bagley is collaborating with the St. Louis County Historical Society to preserve materials such as old sales logs.
