ACTRESS DAKOTA FANNING tends to go for more minimal looks in gowns, and this white frock from Fendi’s spring 2024 couture collection was minimal, ethereal and feminine. The asymmetrical style in white techno organza suited her long blonde hair and was styled by Samantha McMillen for the event.
McMillen accented Fanning’s floaty look with Irene Neuwirth jewels, including a pair of double drop earrings that could have been frosted rock crystal or rainbow moonstone. I could not tell enough from the pictures to be certain. But they definitely added to Fanning’s vibe for the evening with a round top and a pear-shaped bottom stone. She kept her jewelry streamlined, only wearing Neuwirth’s large creamy white pearl ring on her right pointer finger.
Sometimes a more pared down approach to jewels works better, and this was definitely one of those times. The double drop pendant earrings have become a desirable style due to their ability to be dressed down or up.
I am looking forward to seeing what outfits Fanning wears in the series, which is originally based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. The book was then adapted into a film of the same name in 1999, starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law. The costume designers for the film, Anne Roth and Gary Jones used fashion and jewelry that helped to develop the character of Marge Sherwood, whom Fanning is playing in the series.
