VICENZA, Italy – The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council is facilitating the participation of several Indian exhibitors at the Vicenzaoro international jewelry show, held Jan. 22-27, through its hosting of the India Pavilion. The show is the first event on the international calendar, attracting about 1,500 exhibiting companies and buyers from across the globe.
From April 2014 to March 2015, India’s total exports of gems and jewelery to Europe accounted for $3.90 billion. With India being a leading source for gems and jewellery for the world market, the Indian industry’s presence at the event helps it to further improve business relationships and increase networks. GJEPC is hosting 14 exhibitors in its India Pavilion, which has a total area of 257 sq. meters spread over two locations in hall no. 3.0 and 3.1. The exhibition concept combines jewelery, fashion, design and innovation with famous international brands.
“The industry is hopeful that the year 2016 will see revival in trade of gems and jewelery,” says Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya, chairman of the GJEPC. “For the Indian exhibitors, Italy proves to be an entry point for jewelery market for Europe in general and EU countries in particular. Vicenzaoro January, being the first event in the international calendar, the Indian manufacturers are hopeful of a positive response and start this year on a high note.”
The India Pavilion is promoting studded jewelery, loose precious/semiprecious gemstones and beads, and silver jewelery designs.
