A jewelry store owner in Florida shot a teenage robbery suspect in the head as the youth fled, police say.
Michael Dacey, owner of the Treasure Coast Liquidators store in Jensen Beach, will not likely not be charged in the incident, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said, according to WPEC-TV. (Watch a video about the shooting below.)
“In this circumstance, everything lined up to make this a justified shooting,” he was quoted saying.
Police say the suspect, 17-year-old Jakeem McMillan, has been hospitalized in grave condition.
McMillan allegedly entered the store and tried on some rings. He ran out of the store with $800 of merchandise and got into a Jeep, police say.
As the Jeep drove away, Dacey shot at the vehicle, authorities say. The vehicle then struck a truck.

It’s alleged that John Clark, 16, was the getaway driver. He’s accused of grand theft auto and robbery, WPEC reports.
If McMillan dies, Clark, as his accomplice, could be charged with murder, police say.
