Judge the Jewels: Laverne Cox Rocks Old Hollywood Glam in Platinum and Diamonds

The sighting: Actress Laverne Cox attended the 2023 Golden Globes in a blue John Galliano gown accessorized with an exceptional selection of jewelry.

The jewels: Ms. Cox is wearing a mix of antique pieces from Fred Leighton and modern pieces from their sister company, Kwiat Diamonds.

The glamour starts with two Art Deco era platinum and diamond bracelets worn together on the actress’s right wrist. The antique elegance continues on her fingers with two rings from the early 1900’s: a platinum dinner ring with Old European diamonds, and a platinum and diamond ring with a luscious 3.50 ct Old European cut center stone. She’s also wearing one modern ring by Kwiat, a contemporary round brilliant cut diamond eternity band in platinum.

They’re hard to see in that curly bob, but Cox is also wearing a pair of platinum and diamond Kwiat Legacy fireworks earrings.

Finally, there’s my very favorite touch: a 1950’s platinum and diamond stylized leaf brooch by Sterlé worn in the actress’s hair.

The trends: This year’s Golden Globes red carpet was pretty lackluster on the jewelry front, but this look manages to deliver on overall pizazz while still hitting the top trends by skipping a necklace, adorning the wrists, and sticking to white diamonds.

What do we think? I love love love this. It oozes the kind of 1930’s glamour that is my own personal catnip, but in a way that feels fresh and modern rather than gimmicky. The bright platinum and sparkling diamonds pick up the embellishments on the actress’s gown perfectly, creating a vivid, shining whole that won’t soon be forgotten.

Judgement: 16/10 for flawless execution of classic glam.
