The sighting: Model and actress Molly Sims walked the Met Gala red carpet in a voluminous pink gown that was quite lovely, but not nearly as exciting as the spectacular diamond necklace she wore in her hair. (Flip through the the Instagram post above for the full view of the necklace.)
The jewels: The glorious necklace in Sims’s hair is a 120 carat, $1 million diamond necklace from Ring Concierge. She accented the look with additional Ring Concierge jewelry: two pairs of Pear + Marquise Cluster earrings (16 TCW and 4 TCW, respectively), a Baguette Crossover ring (2.8 TCW) and a Baguette Lace ring (2.8 TCW).
Nicole of Ring Concierge was kind enough to document her Met Gala adventure in the RC Instagram Story, so her audience (myself included) had the pleasure of following along as Nicole and her team selected the necklace, secured it in Sims’s hair, helped keep the look together during transport to Met Gala, and then were accidently trapped on the Met Gala red carpet when their van abandoned them. It was a wild ride, literally and figuratively.
The trends: If I had a wedding or a prom coming up, I would already be trying to source a necklace to put in my hair.
What do we think? I love this. It’s so unexpected and glamorous; I gasped when I first saw the back of Sims’s head.
Most necklaces-as-headwear are draped across the forehead or over the head like a diadem, but securing this one around the back of an updo means that it was able to sway and shimmer in all its glory.
Judgement: 14/10!!! I’ve seen celebs wear necklaces in their hair before, and it’s always fun, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one wear quite this much necklace in precisely this way. Points for both innovation and beauty.
