Memorial Services For Cindy Edelstein To Be Held Tuesday

Memorial services for popular writer and jewelry designer advocate Cindy Edelstein will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 26 at the Sinai Free Synagogue in Mount Vernon, NY. Burial will follow at New Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin, NJ.

Edelstein died on Sunday of heart failure at the age of 51. The loss of the popular industry figure has prompted an outpouring of grief from all sectors of the jewelry business.

Shiva hours for Cindy will be held on Tuesday at the home of her brother, Philip Edelstein, in Livingston, NJ and on Wednesday at the home of Cindy’s husband, Frank Stankus, and daughter, Remy Sasha Stankus, in Pelham Manor, NY.

To honor Cindy for her contributions to the jewelry business and to help fill the void left by her sudden loss, an online fundraiser has been created by designer Erica Courtney for the benefit of Cindy’s daughter. Called “Remy’s College Fund”, the fund’s purpose is described in this way:

If you knew Cindy Edelstein — or even just knew about her — then you knew she was a fierce advocate for jewelry designers. She nurtured their talents, pushed them to do better, bolstered their confidence, and raised an entire generation of jewelry designer talent. But that passion and advocacy paled in comparison to her raising of her own daughter, Remy. Cindy had absolutely no intention of leaving that role so soon, so it’s up to all of us who respected and loved her to help continue her work. It’s the best possible way to honor Cindy’s legacy.
