Owner of Max’s, Minneapolis, MN

Ellen Hertz, formerly a high-tech corporate consultant, discovered a second career in 2005 combining two of her favorite things — designer jewelry and gourmet chocolate, which she sells in her store. Now Hertz — winner of the 2011 America’s Coolest Stores honor in the Small Cool division — stays sane by indulging in both passions.
