What’s in a Name? Maybe Enhanced Store Culture

July is a month for the birthdays of men who gave their names to the English language, including “quisling” from Nazi collaborator Vidkun Quisling (July 18), “spoonerisms” from the perpetually tongue-tied William Spooner (July 22), “maverick” from the Texas rancher Samuel Maverick (July 23), and “bowdlerize” from Shakespeare “purifier” Thomas Bowdler (July 11). Is there something exceptional that happens in the day-to-day running of your store that you could immortalize with the name of an employee? Maybe a “Smithee” for that bench jeweler who creates magic when refurbishing a ring or a “Lee-fer” for a salesperson who sells two add-ons? It’s all about building a store culture and encouraging good behaviors.
