London Jewelers, which runs nine upscale stores in the New York metro area, is looking to move to a new headquarters.

The company is seeking $1 million in tax breaks over a 25-year period in exchange for moving its HQ to Glen Head, Newsday reports. The company currently operates from three buildings in Glen Cove.

The company hopes to buy a vacant office building in Glen Head. It would invest $2.7 million and add seven jobs. London Jewelers currently employs 46 people at its headquarters.

London’s real estate attorney, Daniel P. Deegan, said the current space is “inefficient.” The new space would amount to 14,000 square feet.

London CEO Mark Udell wrote in the company’s application for aid that it requires new HQ space “in order to remain competitive within its industry.”

The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency has voted to negotiate with London on the package.

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
