One Jeweler Accuses Another of Stealing Her Designs

She’s seeking punitive damages for copyright infringement.

A Canadian jewelry designer alleges that an English jeweler ripped off her designs and is suing for copyright infringement, Courthouse News Service reports. The article says that the designer, Colleen Wolstenholme, filed a complaint against Damien Hirst accusing him of copying the design of her prescription pill-inspired charm bracelets. The suit alleges that as early as 2004, Hirst began selling a silver charm bracelet that Wolstenholme claims is “identical and/or substantially” similar to her pill charm bracelet. She is seeking punitive damages and a permanent injunction that disallows Hirst from copying her designs.
