Guy Benhamou of Charles Garnier Paris Jewelry Brand Dies at 69

Guy Benhamou, who owned the Charles Garnier Paris jewelry brand, has died at age 69.

His passing followed a short bout with cancer, The Centurion reports.

Benhamou and Gianfranco Proia founded OroAmerica, a gold jewelry manufacturer, in 1977.

The company was sold to Aurafin in 2001, with the combined company, Aurafin-OroAmerica, becoming “the largest gold jewelry supplier in the U.S.,” according to The Centurion.

Benhamou was known as a supporter of the Jewelers Vigilance Committee and as an entrepreneur who “worked tirelessly on product development and innovation.”
