(PRESS RELEASE) The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) announces that it will showcase an array of first-hand experiences of Bahrain’s rich pearling heritage for visitors to its stand at the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The interactive DANAT exhibition at Expo 2020 Dubai will host experiences including examining a variety of Bahraini natural pearls. DANAT’s gemmologists will demonstrate the latest, state-of-the-art machinery and techniques used for testing such as high-grade laboratory X-ray microradiography and X-ray fluorescence.
Visitors will be taken through the pearl testing journey with a pioneering video visualisation experience. The viewer will follow a pearl’s journey from the seabed to the laboratory.
“Our stand at Expo 2020 Dubai will emphasize DANAT’s position as the world’s most prominent laboratory for pearl testing,” said DANAT Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Noora Jamsheer.
“DANAT has an expert team of highly qualified staff, some of whom will be present at the exhibition to explain how we test natural pearls and to demonstrate how we use our equipment using the latest technologies.”
DANAT will be exhibiting at Expo 2020 Dubai in the Kingdom of Bahrain Pavilion, Opportunity District, from October 1 to November 30, 2021. DANAT will also take part in the Dubai Expo’s Majlis sessions and pin trading experience. DANAT wants to ensure that every visitor leaves with a piece of DANAT memorabilia.
Since its establishment, DANAT has been a main driver of the Government of Bahrain’s strategic plan to revive interest in the pearl sector.

In addition to testing the world’s rarest and finest natural pearls, DANAT educates the next generation of gemmologists at its premises. It is the only centre in the MENA region offering the internationally renowned Gem-A Diploma. Additionally, DANAT’s research team has led ground-breaking research on pearls and the sustainability of oyster beds.
Based at the World Trade Tower in Manama, DANAT consists of a team of highly qualified gemmologists and researchers who work to protect and enhance the confidence of the trade and consumers in pearls, gemstones and jewellery.
