Big Survey

Don’t Go Looking for a Jeweler on These Holidays

HOLIDAYS ARE OFTEN times for gift giving, so you might expect jewelers to work through them. But according to the results of the latest INSTORE 2021 Big Survey you would more often than not be wrong.

Jewelers are as likely not to clock in to work for the big “festive family days” as anyone else. Less than 2 percent of Big Survey respondents said they opened for Christmas Day and Thanksgiving, while less than 4 percent open on New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, they were only slightly more likely to open on the big public days off – Memorial Day (12 percent), July 4 (9 percent) and Labor Day (11 percent).

The 2021 Big Survey was carried out between August and September, attracting more than 600 anonymous responses from owners of independent jewelry stores across the United States and Canada. The full results will be published in the upcoming November issue of INSTORE.
