AS YOU MAY have noticed if you answer any of our surveys, the editors at INSTORE are a curious bunch. So, in the 2022 Big Survey, naturally we wanted to know, “What song makes you unconditionally happy?”

So, ta-da! Here are the top 10 songs mentioned most often by hundreds of jewelry store owners and top managers in the U.S. and Canada, in case you’re looking to lift your own spirits or create an upbeat playlist of your own.

  • Happy (Pharrell Williams)
  • Mr. Blue Sky (ELO)
  • Don’t Worry, Be Happy (Bobby McFerrin)
  • Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars)
  • Three Little Birds (Bob Marley & the Wailers)
  • Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
  • Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffett)
  • What A Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)
  • It’s About Damn Time. (Lizzo)
  • Piano Man. (Billy Joel)

Other interesting (and varied) choices in no particular order include:

  • We Are Family by Sister Sledge. When I hear the song We Are Family, it brings me back to the time when our entire family worked together. My father, who started the first store, would play that song, and back then I didn’t understand the importance of why he played it, but now reflecting back 26 years, it was pretty special to have that relationship with my family and to be able to work together.
  • F U by Ce-Lo Green. “Makes me chortle.”
  • Rhinestone Cowboy by Glenn Campbell. “Our whole store sings it together every morning when we are opening up.”
  • Hey Jude by The Beatles. “My son was named after this song.”
  • The Star Spangled Banner
  • Our House. Crosby, Stills and Nash
  • Jump. Van Halen
  • Boogie on Reggae Woman. Stevie Wonder
  • Roxanne (Sting)
  • Love, Love Me Do. The Beatles
  • This Must Be the Place. Talking Heads
  • Let the Bodies Hit the Floor. Drowning Pool
  • Windy. The Association
  • You Got the Silver. The Rolling Stones
  • Love Shack. The B52s
  • Golden Years. David Bowie
  • 24K Magic. Bruno Mars
  • Any Time. Taylor Swift
  • Run to Me. Brian Adams
