Encourage ‘Radical Honesty’ in Your Jewelry Store … And Watch How Quickly Things Improve

It’s impossible to be great at every aspect of running a business, from sales to accounting to human resources to marketing. But that doesn’t mean you have to accept mediocrity — or worse — in any of those areas.

Chances are, you already have some of the expertise you need on your team, says jewelry marketing specialist Jimmy DeGroot. You just have to be willing to listen.

In the video below, he talks about “Radical Truthfulness” and “Radical Transparency,” concepts he learned from Ray Dalio.

They boil down to “that ability to respectfully disagree with one another and develop a business where everyone is empowered, respected and appreciated for their input,” DeGroot says.

Recognize your own weaknesses, and then see if you can find someone on your team who has those skills.

“You’re not good at everything!” DeGroot says. “So stop hindering your business by trying to do the things you’re bad at. It’s not fun! And then create an atmosphere in which your people can feel free to give creative input and opinions.”
