The sighting: Actress and playwright Dominique Morisseau lit up the Tony Awards in a gorgeous green gown and a showstopping piece of jewelry by Lorraine West.
The jewels: Morisseau wore West’s Abstract Feather Ear Cuff. West shared on her Instagram that she finished making this piece at her bench mere hours before getting on a plane to head to the jewelry shows in Las Vegas, so this was the debut of a freshly made jewel.

The trends: Unexpectedly large statement ear cuffs have popped up in several big collections lately, including both Boucheron and Swarovski’s recent offerings. It’s a very bold look that will be too much for jewelry lovers who prefer understated styles, but it’s perfect party wear for the daring.
Morisseau is far from the only celeb who loves West’s statement jewels. We’ve also seen her work on Beyonce, Viola Davis, Zendaya, Mary J. Blige and Ariana Grande, among others. What do we think? I gasped out loud when I saw this. The dramatic fan of gently curling metal feathers lovingly tracing the line of Morisseau’s head, the hair perfectly cut to frame the jewel, the swirling shape echoing the fall of the gown’s fabric at the cuffs and bodice — it’s all just glorious. This is how you do a red carpet statement jewel, my friends.
