(PRESS RELEASE) LAS VEGAS — The Rapaport Group announces the launch of the Rapaport Jewelry Catalog featuring curated selections of estate jewelry and certified natural pearls. The catalog is available online at jewelry.rapaport.com.

The Rapaport Catalog is a trading platform that is open to everyone. Retailers and Dealers can trade with each other as well as with consumers. Sellers are invited to submit fine quality estate jewelry for inclusion in the catalog. If accepted, the jewelry will be offered for sale online at a 10% commission. Buyers may choose to buy the jewelry outright or place bids. Buyers who are not members of the trade will be charged a 10% buyer’s fee and applicable sales tax. Rapaport will not be buying or selling jewelry on the site for its own account, but will guarantee payment and delivery of merchandise.

Rapaport is also pleased to announce our Rapaport Estate Jewelry Tender Auction to be held during the week of March 16-19. Viewing will take place online and at our New York office. The auction will feature fine quality estate jewelry as well as a selection of certified natural pearls direct from Bahrain. Personal service is available via email jewelry@rapaport.com or +1.212.354.9800.

“Pre-owned estate jewelry presents the greatest opportunity for US jewelers. Over 90 million Americans are reaching the age when they will want to resell their jewelry. The Rapaport Group is establishing trading platforms that will enable consumers, jewelers and dealers to trade fine quality second-hand jewelry at transparent competitive fair market prices.” said Martin Rapaport, chairman of The Rapaport Group.

Buyers will have an opportunity to view and try on many of these items at the upcoming Palm Beach Jewelry, Art and Antiques Show between February 13-18, 2020. Martin Rapaport will be providing a key note presentation on Sunday, February 16th at 12:00 pm at the show.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
