THE COUTURE runway models and many of the 2022 red carpet awards celebrities were swathed in pink gowns from the Grammys to the Cannes and Venice Film Festivals. But Reese Witherspoon, who was all about pink as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, was a bombshell in blue in her Armani Prive mermaid-inspired sequin dress and Tiffany & Co. aquamarine necklace and ring.
She dazzled with her shiny blonde hair worn down just behind her ears and off her shoulders so the world could see the Tiffany statement necklace, which featured more than 160 carats of emerald-cut aquamarines, 49 carats of cushion-cut blue zircons and 84 diamond accents with a total weight of approximately 2 carats. She wore simple diamond Tiffany studs so as not to compete with the awe-inspiring necklace. But she did wear a Tiffany aquamarine ring of approximately 3 carats (not shown). In a year in which color is in the spotlight once again for jewelry, the calm shades of the sea provide a bridge between the rainbow brights and baby pastels. This necklace is sophisticated and glamorous and inspirational for the everyday looks you might want in your rotation. It is also the gemstone that ranges in tones from tranquil to more vivid Mediterranean blues.
Let’s also talk about zircon. It was used in early through mid 20th century designs and somehow became mistaken for a faux gem in the later part of the century into the millennium. But then gemologists, gemology organizations and jewelry writers put out the word that it is very real stone, available in a range of hues and one of December’s birthstones.
