(PRESS RELEASE) TROY, MI – The Jewelry Symposium (TJS), the jewelry industry’s annual international event dedicated specifically to the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology, is launching a new scholarship program for its 2024 edition. The scholarships are generously sponsored by TJS supporters C&J Jewelry, Mano Acero Jewelry, and TechForm Advanced Casting. Application deadline is March 29, 2024, and a minimum of three awardees (possibly more) will be notified by April 5th. The brief digital application process can be accessed online here.

TJS 2024, to be held in Detroit, Michigan from May 18 to May 21, is now offering scholarships for aspiring jewelry professionals, including students, interns, apprentices, and those early in their jewelry careers. Each scholarship includes the symposium registration fee, three nights at the venue – the Detroit Marriott Troy hotel May 18, 19, and 20 – plus meals catered by TJS, as well as a book, a thumb drive of all presentations, and a formal certificate of attendance.

“We are excited to offer free registration, attendance, and accommodations to young jewelry professionals as we aim to achieve our goal of eliminating information-sharing barriers within the industry,” says Linus Drogs, Chairman of Board, TJS. “Scholarship attendees will have access to some of the most experienced and talented makers of fine jewelry from around the world. The current shortage of skilled bench jewelers is a serious concern. Engaging with younger jewelers, especially with our practical, hands-on approach, is critical. We hope these scholarships will allow more young jewelry talent to get involved and get inspired, helping us all grow the future of our beloved fine jewelry industry.”

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
