(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The Original Miami Beach Antique Show (OMBAS), taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC) January 11-15, 2024, will be replete with pop up education sessions, multiple on-site activations and collaborations with key partners. Running concurrently with Art Deco Weekend (taking place January 12-14), on the heels of South Beach Jazz Festival (taking place January 4-7), the 60th Anniversary of OMBAS will be a widespread celebration of art, history, design and creativity.

OMBAS is pleased to welcome Sotheby’s for its annual Appraisal Day, which will be held on Saturday, January 13 during show hours, 11am to 7pm, and will provide all ticket holders with the opportunity to bring in one item for a complimentary verbal valuation by Sotheby’s world-class experts.

Adding a fresh perspective to the event’s annual educational offerings is famed architect Peter Pennoyer, whose firm has upheld the gold standard of traditional residential architecture for over 30 years. Peter will be joined by Tim Kelly, who has been with Peter Pennoyer Architects since 2005 and established the firm’s Miami office in 2010. The two will give a presentation and Q&A at 2pm on Sunday, January 14 entitled From City to Country: An Inside Look at Designing Houses Today. A cohesive complement to the event’s newly minted Modern and Contemporary Art Pavilion, the discussion will include tips for incorporating antique and vintage home décor into a contemporary design motif, and Peter Pennoyer Architect’s signature edition book City I Country will be available for purchase.

“For 60 years, the Original Miami Beach Antique Show has been a destination-event for attendees on the hunt for unique, one-of-a-kind signed and unsigned pieces,” explains Gannon Brousseau, EVP, Emerald. “With over 600 renown dealers from across the globe who are passionate and knowledgeable storytellers, OMBAS is the perfect chance to discover items that you can’t find anywhere else in the world, while also learning about the history and provenance of a piece or a genre from experts in their fields.”

OMBAS is a breathtaking showcase of jewelry, watches, handbags, art, furniture, home décor and much more. Additional educational offerings and other on-site activations are still being finalized and updates will continue to be posted on the event’s website.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
