Some shoppers thought they heard gunfire.
The robbery of Ben Bridge Jeweler in Tukwila, WA’s Southcenter Mall led to a lockdown at the retail center, KOMO reports.
The smash-and-grab robbery occurred Tuesday afternoon. The four thieves — three males and a female — didn’t say a word and didn’t display any weapons, police said. The took some jewelry and fled — but not without being captured on surveillance camera. Authorities are still looking for the suspects.
Shoppers in the mall were ushered to the backs of stores, and doors were locked. Some shoppers had reportedly mistaken the sound of breaking glass for gunfire.
After the robbers fled, the lockdown was soon lifted.
25-Pound Crystal Stolen from Jewelry Store
Someone stole a 25-pound crystal from in front of a jewelry store in Toronto, the Toronto Star reports. The crystal, which resembles a gargantuan diamond, was taken from Louis Louro of Louro & Sons Jewellers at about 1 a.m. Saturday by two men, according to security footage. The store is willing to pay a $1,000 reward for the return of the crystal, which it bought for $7,000.

Man Suspected of Stealing from 2 Jewelry Stores
Police are looking for a man they suspect took jewelry from two stores in Birmingham, MI, Click On Detroit reports. He’s believed to have hit Legacy Jewelry and Merwins Antiques Gallery, both in the city’s downtown area. In all, $11,000 worth of merchandise was stolen. He was described as a “smooth-talking” thief who used distraction techniques.
