[dropcap cap=D]ylan Milkins is the 16-year-old son of Burdett and Christine Milkins of Milkins Jewelers in Monroe, MI.[/dropcap]
Dylan began his in-store experience around the age of 7 and took on the mantel of part-time sales associate last summer. Dylan learned some valuable lessons — like it’s probably not a good idea to complain to a customer that your feet hurt when you yourself have been wearing tennis shoes all day and she is wearing high heels!
Then came the age-old lesson of “be careful of what you wish for.” Dylan had been assigned the position of official gift wrapper and had grown weary of Scotch tape and bows. His father promoted him to watch battery changer, with an assignment to change every watch battery presented by a customer within a 5 to 15 minute period and provide the best service possible. As fate would have it, the very next customer who walked in the door held a plastic bag containing 25 watches needing batteries!
When asked if he had met any unusual people during his time at the store, Dylan simply says: “They’re all unusual!”
