ICA Hosts Successful Pavilion at JGW Hong Kong Show

(PRESS RELEASE) HONG KONG — The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) hosted a pavilion at the Jewellery & Gem World (JGW) Hong Kong show last week, and with 40 members exhibitors in the ICA Pavilion, our Association was well-represented. This year, the JGW Show returned to it’s original two-venue format, one at the Asia World Expo and one at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Conference Centre. Other ICA exhibitors were present at both locations. The ICA Pavilion was open September 18 – 22, 2023 at the Asia World Expo location.

“This was a solid year for JGW and ICA,” said Douglas K. Hucker, ICA CEO. “The traffic on the floor was strong and consistent and clearly buyers are returning to trade fairs to replenish inventories and renew relationships. The atmosphere throughout was positive and our ICA exhibitors were pleased with the quality of buyers in attendance.”

During the show, the ICA hosted its annual Member Reception at the Marriott SkyCity Hotel, on September 19, 2023. Almost 300 ICA members attended and were treated to a night of fellowship, food and dancing. The ICA extends our grateful appreciation to our sponsors for the Member Reception: AV Globale, ICA GemLab, Gemburi Chanthaburi, and Wilds Company Ltd. ICA President Damien Cody introduced the new ICA Board to the audience and announced that the next ICA Congress will be held in Shenzhen China from 5-7 March 2024.

The dates for the next JGW Hong Kong Show are September 16 – 20, 2024. The next ICA Pavilion will be held at the GJX Tucson Show, January 30 – February 4, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona.

What is the ICA

The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA), a non-profit organization, is the only worldwide body specifically created to benefit the global colored gemstone industry. ICA was founded in 1984 and is now comprised of 700+ gem industry leaders from mine to market, including miners, gem cutters, suppliers, retailers, trade associations, gemological laboratories, academia, museums, and more, from 47 countries who are devoted to advancing and promoting the knowledge and appreciation of colored gemstones.

ICA’s global network works to develop a common language for promotion and consistent business standards necessary to improve international communication and trade of colored gemstones.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
