The sighting: Actress Florence Pugh attended the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Governors Awards in a white and gold Victorian Beckham gown and an incredible necklace that I covet with my whole heart.

The jewels: Florence Pugh is wearing one major statement piece – the necklace that I will spend most of this post rhapsodizing about – along with a few subtle pieces of accent jewelry.

The necklace is a beautiful piece in yellow gold, with overlapping rope-textured swags that form a full circle of articulated tassels. I haven’t managed to track down the specific piece that Pugh wore, but it appears to be very similar to this vintage 18K yellow gold Tiffany & Co. tassel necklace currently for sale by New Orleans-based M.S. Rau for $34,500.

In addition to the necklace, the actress is wearing what looks like an assortment of smallish diamond studs, an understated septum ring, and a couple of rings on her fingers as well. According to the tags on her stylist’s Instagram, the night’s jewelry is all Tiffany & Co., but the septum ring appears to be a favorite personal piece by Maria Tash that Pugh has worn for many previous appearances.

What do we think? We’re here to talk about jewelry, but I also feel the need to declare my hatred for this dress. Ms. Pugh’s couture feels like the formal version of the gown that Ariel makes out of salvaged beach trash before she meets Prince Eric in the beginning of The Little Mermaid. I’m sure it’s very expensive, but it looks like she rolled around in a bag of garment remnants and upholstery trimmings.

That said: this necklace still goes well with it, because this necklace is magic.

I’ve rarely met a gold tassel I didn’t want to immediately throw on and shimmy around in, and this glorious wreath of tassels is no exception. It’s a beautiful piece, with luscious texture and compelling movement. I might wish the necklace was one inch longer? It rides a little high on her neck.

But besides that, it’s perfection.

The septum ring adds a fun dash of edge to the look, and the diamond studs aren’t an especially thrilling choice, but I’ll take a little sparkle over a bare lobe any day.

Judgement: 13/10 for a truly spectacular necklace in an outfit that does not delight me as a whole. (Yes, I love the necklace SO MUCH that it carries this look above a 10/10.)

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
