The sighting: Vice President Kamala Harris recently hosted an event in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. The VP donned a colorful suit and Harwell Godfrey jewelry for the occasion.

The jewels: The VP is wearing Harwell Godfrey’s Foundation Cable Chain Necklace in 18K yellow gold, listed on the brand’s website for $4,950, as well as the Harwell Godfrey Stardust in 18K yellow gold with turquoise and diamonds (listed on the brand’s website for $8,250.

It’s hard to see in the first photo, but Harris is also wearing Harwell Godfrey’s Stardust ring in 18K yellow gold and diamonds (listed on the brand’s website for $17,950).

Judge The Jewels: VP Kamala Harris Glows in Gold Harwell Godfrey Designs

The trends: Harwell Godfrey’s bold gold creations are extraordinarily popular and it’s not difficult to understand why. This kind of dramatic, gold-heavy design is ultra-desirable right now and Godfrey is (rightfully) known for nailing this aesthetic.

What do we think? These unapologetically glamorous geometric designs say “hello, here I am!” with confidence and style. They’re elegant but not fussy, modern but not excessively trendy. It’s a perfect mood for the VP, and I love the joyful exuberance of pairing the Stardust pendant’s pop of turquoise with Harris’ already colorful outfit.

Also, I love seeing VP Harris using her own visibility to promote the work of another talented Black woman. The fact that the VP wore this ensemble to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop, a genre defined by the excellence of Black artists, makes the combination even more appropriate.

Judgement: 17/10 for a gorgeous and very appropriate jewelry choice.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
