BEFORE I GET to the jewelry that will be the gist of this article, I have to talk about mismatched shoes, since Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City was obsessed with them. When she shows up wearing the same shoe in two different colors with rhinestone buckles like her character in the “Escape From New York” episode of the HBO series, in which the gal pals went to Los Angeles, it’s worth a mention. In 2020, she also sold a similar mismatched pair in her shoe brand, SJP Collection, in two colors. “And just like that,” the ingenious mismatch could very well launch a new trend in footwear.

Now that I have rambled on about the iconic, style-setting actress’s feet, let’s talk about the jewels she wore with her off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress: Fred Leighton rings, large Kwiat stud earrings and a Vacheron Constantin watch. It was just the right amount of jewelry, and in the perfect style, for the outfit and the event.

A description of the watch on the Vacheron Constantin website reads: “Heures Créatives Heure Romantique in White Gold. Inspired by a piece from 1916 created during the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau period, this 18K white gold watch celebrates that romantic era. It is set with 123 round-cut diamonds and features a mother-of-pearl dial with painted Roman numerals. The timepiece is supplied with a satin strap featuring a diamond-set folding clasp, and a leather strap.”

The watch went well with the rings, which included Fred Leighton early 20th century diamond and platinum styles worn with Fred Leighton Signature (designed in-house and inspired by antique and vintage jewelry) and Kwiat diamond rings.

The entire look was a hit for the ballet gala, and the jewelry offered an aspirational look that could easily translate into collectible pieces for those who desire authentic antique/vintage or vintage-inspired styles that are romantic and feminine.

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
