Judge the Jewels: Meghan Markle’s Tabayer Hoops Are Modern Royal Chic

The sighting: Actress and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle recently attended a charity event for One805. She wore a classic Cartier Tank watch and a pair of modern gold hoop earrings for the occasion.

The jewels: Markle is wearing a pair of Tabayer Large Oera hoops in 18K yellow Fairmined gold. The Large Oera hoops are listed on Tabayer’s website for $5,600. She’s also wearing her Cartier Tank watch and a gold bangle.

It’s worth nothing that these hoops are a personal piece of jewelry, not a loan; Meghan Markle actually owns them.

The trends: There’s nothing more classic than a gold hoop, but the chunky proportions, asymmetrical open shape, and compelling blunted edges of this Tabayer style are what makes these earrings iconic rather than just nice.

The fact that these beauties are Fairmined gold is another trend: today’s consumers are caring more and more about the sources and environmental impacts of their jewelry.

What do we think? We’ve seen hoops before and we’ve seen princesses before, but Meghan Markle is doing both differently and making it look good.
I adore these earrings for Markle. They’re classic with a twist, just like the Duchess’s style. Unimpeachably elegant, but chic and modern at the same time. A classic style rendered in a totally new way.
