THE CORONATION of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in Edinburgh, Scotland, on July 5 brought out royal blue and pearls when Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, chose a vibrant blue suit, hat and a necklace of pearls and diamonds from Queen Elizabeth II’s personal collection.

The look reminded me of outfits and jewels worn by Kate’s mother in law, Princess Diana, who often accessorized with sapphires and pearls, noted to be her favorites.

Always chic, the new princess has become a style icon, and her outfits and jewels are often reported on. This case was no exception. The pearls she wore were gifted to Queen Elizabeth in 1975 during her state visit to Japan. Upon returning to the UK, court jeweler Garrard created a three-strand necklace with a centerpiece of marquise shaped diamonds for the queen.

The princess wore these pearls with her usual (seemingly effortless) elegance, and they suited her and the occasion perfectly.

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
