The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has added a cut grade to its reports for loose fancy shaped diamonds. In addition to traditional polish and symmetry analysis, IGI will now assess the influence of cut quality on light behavior seen in fancy shapes using a four-step system combining proportions requirements with visual assessment. igi.org/cut-grading

Paper’s Return

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is once again offering printed paper copies of their popular Diamond Dossier reports. The organization had previously announced its goal to make the reports digital-only starting at the beginning of 2023, but GIA has since reversed that decision due to concern from the industry. gia.edu
