The sighting: Celebrity besties Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have joined forces to promote my favorite sporting event of the year, the Puppy Bowl. An Instagram photo reveals they’re doing it in diamond-encrusted glasses.

The jewels: An Instagram photo featured Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg posing in their Puppy Bowl XVIII Coach uniforms, each sporting a pair of glasses. Martha’s caption simply read “New eyewear from @snoopdogg Gold and diamonds.”

The photo in question has since been deleted from Martha Stewart’s Instagram, and we don’t know why. Perhaps it accidently posted early, and the dynamic duo is waiting for Puppy Bowl weekend to reveal their extraordinary eyewear?
We’ll find out soon.

The trends: We recently saw Pharrell out and about in a pair of diamond and emerald Tiffany & Co. sunglasses and now Martha & Snoop might be wearing diamond glasses for the Puppy Bowl! It’s too soon to know how far it will reach, but I think we can officially say there’s a diamond eyewear trend brewing.

What do we think? I’ve worn glasses since I was 8 years old and the process of picking new frames is always excruciating: what design do I love enough that it deserves to represent me front and center on my face? I like my current pair of pink and green cateye frames but if I had known diamonds were an option, things might have been different.

I have only had the honor of encountering fine jewelry glasses frames out in the wild twice, and both pairs were personal pieces that jewelry designers had made for themselves. It’s an incredibly baller move and I would be extremely pumped if fine jewelry glasses frames were to become more widely accessible.

Judgement: 10000/10 because Snoop Dogg + Martha S + PUPPIES + diamond glasses!!!! This rating might still be too low.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
