(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — During the 2022 JA New York Summer Show, Jen Insardi of JV Insardi was presented with the Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year Award, taking her place in a distinguished history that dates back over 45 years. Named after the late Mort Abelson, who is credited with fostering the designer fine jewelry movement, the New Designer of the Year award is presented annually to one of the brands exhibiting in the show’s New Designer Gallery (NDG) and is voted on by a select group of attending editors, retailers and industry tastemakers.
“While each of the six designers who exhibited in this year’s New Designer Gallery were lauded for their distinct point-of-view, JV Insardi ranked highest with our panel of judges based on her creativity and the quality of craftsmanship inherent in her work,” explained Mark Lind, group show director for JA New York Shows. “With her artistic aptitude and her astute business acumen, we have no doubt that Jen’s collection will continue to evolve and that she will soon be widely recognized among the top echelon of the designer fine jewelry marketplace.”
The JV Insardi brand is distinguished by bold, sculptural silhouettes crafted in rich, 18k gold accented with diamonds. The collection evokes a meticulous thoughtfulness and intention in each of its lines and curves, an aesthetic that is achieved through the designer’s creative process of hand carving wax so that she can utilize the visual calculation to create balance and precision in her designs. With several “hero” pieces supported by an increasing number of aspirational designs, Jen’s approach to growing her brand follows an established formula utilized by some of today’s most highly regarded designer fine jewelry brands.
The history of the NDG dates back to 1977, when designer David Yurman first launched his collection during JA New York. NDG has also been the launch pad for designers such as Paula Crevoshay, Paul Morelli, and George Sawyer, while other Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year recipients include Alex Sepkus and Steven Kretchmer. In addition to JV Insardi, the other NDG brands present during the 2022 event included Kiersten Elizabeth, NVR NUDE, Isabel Alexander, Helannona and Praycious Jewels.
