(PRESS RELEASE) Nationally renowned timepiece and jewelry retailer London Jewelers is proud to announce the creation of the Charles London Scholarship, in conjunction with the Horological Society of New York, which will offer awards of up to $5,000 for students of watchmaking. The scholarships, named for the company’s founder Charles London, will be awarded every April. Applications begin on January 1 and are due by March 1.

The award has been created by London Jewelers due to the awareness that many students in full-tine watchmaking schools are finding it increasingly difficult to cover their living expenses, even though tuition to most schools are free.

Any student who has been accepted or is currently studying at a full-time watchmaking school in the USA is eligible for the Charles London Scholarship. Prospective students may also apply, with the understanding that the scholarship is contingent on their enrollment at a full-time watchmaking school.

“Charles London, a young, self-taught clock maker emigrated alone from Poland in 1923 and became the founder of this company in 1926,” says President Candy Udell. “It is in his memory that the Udell family honors him by giving the opportunity to someone to follow in his or her footsteps as a watchmaker for a career. It’s truly the American dream.”

To apply for the scholarship, students should email a letter in PDF form to the Trustees of the Horological Society of New York (info@hs-ny.org). It should include a biography, an explanation of their motivation to study watchmaking and an explanation of how this scholarship would benefit the applicant. A resume is required, and reference letters are recommended.

Ready to Relocate? Wilkerson Makes Your Move Seamless

When Brockhaus Jewelry decided to leave their longtime West Main Street storefront for a standalone building elsewhere in Norman, Oklahoma, owners John Brockhaus and Brad Shipman faced a familiar challenge: how to efficiently reduce inventory before the big move. Their solution? Partnering with liquidation specialists Wilkerson for a second time. "We'd already experienced Wilkerson's professionalism during a previous sale," Shipman recalls. "But their approach to our relocation event truly impressed us. They strategically prioritized our existing pieces while tactfully introducing complementary merchandise as inventory levels decreased." The carefully orchestrated sale didn't just meet targets—it shattered them. Asked if they'd endorse Wilkerson to industry colleagues planning similar transitions—whether relocating, retiring, or refreshing their space—both partners were emphatic in their approval. "The entire process was remarkably straightforward," Shipman notes. "Wilkerson delivered a well-structured program, paired us with a knowledgeable advisor, and managed every detail flawlessly from concept to completion."
