Todd Reed’s Newest Bridal Rings — in Trending Yellow Gold

When Kirsten Dunst recently got engaged to actor Jesse Plemons, many of us noticed that the A-list actress’ diamond engagement ring is yellow gold.

Precious yellow metal — a throwback aesthetic to the 70s and 80s — is fast becoming a choice for many modern brides. Of course, for Todd Reed, an award-winning Colorado jewelry designer, it’s been one of his go-to metals for decades. I’m especially loving some of Reed’s newest yellow gold bridal rings, just unveiled for spring — particularly those with brown, champagne and autumnal color diamonds that are highly wearable tone-on-tone monochromatic designs.

FYI: On Sunday night, when Dunst, a “Hidden Figures” co-star, walks the red carpet of the 89th annual Academy Awards — the film is nominated for Best Picture — I’ll be taking special note of the rest of Dunst’s jewelry, to see if she chooses yellow or white gold. Will she or won’t try to metal-match her new betrothal ring? We’ll be watching. www.toddreed.com.

When There’s No Succession Plan, Call Wilkerson

Bob Wesley, owner of Robert C. Wesley Jewelers in Scottsdale, Ariz., was a third-generation jeweler. When it was time to enjoy life on the other side of the counter, he weighed his options. His lease was nearing renewal time and with no succession plan, he decided it was time to call Wilkerson. There was plenty of inventory to sell and at first, says Wesley, he thought he might try to manage a sale himself. But he’s glad he didn’t. “There’s no way I could have done this as well as Wilkerson,” he says. Wilkerson took responsibility for the entire event, with every detail — from advertising to accounting — done, dusted and managed by the Wilkerson team. “It’s the complete package,” he says of the Wilkerson method of helping jewelers to easily go on to the next phase of their lives. “There’s no way any retailer can duplicate what they’ve done.”
