The sighting: Celebrity couple Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker – aka “Kravis” – put a ring on it over the weekend. Blink 182’s Travis Barker popped the question on the beach at sunset, surrounded by flowers.

Kourtney hasn’t posted a ring selfie yet, but her famous sisters’ social media accounts made sure we got a peek at the rock the eldest Kardashian sister got from her rockstar.

The jewels: Most of the ring’s specs remain speculative, but we know it was created by Lorraine Schwartz, a family favorite who also designed Kim Kardashian’s ring from her now ex-husband, Kanye West. Kourtney’s ring features a large but elegant oval diamond on a slim pavé band with a delicate diamond halo.

Subtle pavé and whisper-thin settings let the long, lovely oval diamond take center stage. Exact size is TBD, but we suspect the sizable sparkler is at least 8 carats. It’s a beautiful and almost understated ring for a couple whose style tends towards dark and edgy, an easy-to-love design that’s sure to score a spot on countless wedding inspiration Pinterest boards.

The ring is likely worth $1 million, said Mike Fried of The Diamond Pro, according to Page Six.

The trends: Oval engagement rings were already hot and the Kravis ring’s instant popularity will only add more fuel to this trend’s fire. Not many shoppers will be able to afford an oval of this size, but the look – an oval solitaire in a minimal setting – will scale well for a wide range of budgets.

To say that social media was in an uproar over this engagement would be an understatement: the news was everywhere. People might roll their eyes over the Kardashians, but don’t underestimate the ubiquitous sisters’ stylistic influence.
