THE #NECKMESS IS GETTING a makeover with more texture and graduated chains, diamond necklaces and a tactile sensibility, as shown on Taylor Swift at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. There are so many aspects to covet about this look: the variety of styles, the way the necklaces are all perfectly graduated and the jewelry’s edgy elegance. Most importantly, it’s a look that anyone can copy at home with a little ingenuity of customizing the chains in the lengths you want to graduate. If you have long hair or can hide it with a white collar shirt, you can safety-pin the different styles in the back of the necklaces so that you can move them around as you see fit. Or, you can add a thinner extender chain in the back of 2-2 ½ inches, which will allow you to wear each necklace in different combinations.

The beauty is in the mix of metals, gemstones or diamonds and the various textures of the links. Swift did this look justice during the awards show by mixing a diamond eternity necklace by Anita Ko with vintage gold and diamond necklaces from Joseph Saidian & Sons. She also wore a vintage onyx, gold and diamond Van Cleef & Arpels  cocktail ring (which apparently lost its central diamond during the awards ceremony), Maria Tash hoop earrings and an Anita Ko ear cuff, which was just enough to complement her neck statement.

We also recommend you playing with different necklaces you already own, adding a new links and maybe a new diamond style into the mix.

The look is chic and relevant, yet all of these necklaces are styles that will endure the test of time.

She Wanted to Spend More Time with Her Kids. She Called Wilkerson.

Your children are precious. More precious than gold? Absolutely! Just ask Lesley Ann Davis, owner of Lesley Ann Jewels, an independent jewelry store that — until the end of 2023 — had quite a following in Houston, Texas. To spend more time with her four sons, all in high school, she decided to close her store. Luckily, she was familiar with Wilkerson and called them as soon as she knew she wanted to move on to bigger, better and more family-focused things. Was she happy with her decision? Yes, she was. Says Davis, “Any owner looking to make that life change, looking to retire, looking to close, looking for a pause in their career, I would recommend Wilkerson. Hands down!”
